Meet the creator of Kai

Hi! I’m Hannah

The name Kai (開 in Mandarin) means “to start,” “to begin,” or “to open doors.” For me, it represents exactly what this business is about: creating opportunities, opening new possibilities, and approaching marketing with an open mind. Being half Taiwanese, I’ve always felt the importance of keeping an open mind toward different cultures, perspectives, and ways of doing things. That mindset is what inspired the name.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to work with companies featured on Dragons’ Den, The Globe and Mail, Global News, and award-winning realtors here on the Island.

  • The Beginning

    2017

In 2017, I started studying sociology and business at the University of Victoria. However, I soon discovered my passion for marketing and design, so I pursued various programs at BCIT.

In addition to my BA, I hold two associate certificates from BCIT: one in marketing management and the other in UX/UI design. I also have a certificate in Chinese Language from UVIC.

  • The Side Hustle

    2020

In 2020, I began my freelance journey. I started working at a boutique marketing agency and quickly learned the ropes of digital marketing in various industries and verticals.

I began taking on clients from different sectors, including not-for-profit organizations, start-ups and real estate.

  • The Now

    Present Day

In 2023, I decided to launch my website and take my business to the next level. I now specialize in working with clients in the following niches: real estate, not-for-profit organizations, beauty and hair and tech start-ups.

I am passionate about continuous learning and self-improvement. I am currently enrolled in the Graphic and Digital Design Certificate from The Parsons School of Design - The New School
