How to Craft a Cohesive Instagram Feed

When it comes to building a strong social media presence, one key element that can make a significant impact is having a cohesive and aesthetic Instagram feed. A cohesive feed not only looks visually appealing but also helps to establish your brand identity and attract and engage your audience. Here are some tips you can implement to start curating an aesthetic Instagram feed:

1. Define Your Brand Aesthetic

Before diving into the specifics of your feed, it's essential to have a clear understanding of your brand aesthetic, where you want to go, and the story behind it. I recommend starting this journey by building a moodboard using Pinterest: Step 1: Create a Pinterest account and set up a board. Feel free to set it to private for your eyes only!

Step 2: Start pinning and decide on the direction you want to take. Consider the values, personality, and visual style that you want to convey through your brand.

2. Choose a Colour Palette

Selecting a colour palette is an important step in achieving visual consistency. I recommend using the Adobe Colour Wheel to help assist you in finding the right vibe for your brand. Using the "explore tab" or "trends" is super inspiring.

3. Consistent Filters or Editing Styles

Applying consistent filters or editing styles to your photos can greatly contribute to a cohesive feed. Experiment with different editing tools and find a style that resonates with you. Some style types include "bold," "vibrant," "clean," etc. I enjoy using the Tezza app for curating a film-like feed.

4. Plan Your Content in Advance

To maintain a cohesive feed, it's helpful to plan your content in advance. Consider the overall visual flow and balance of your feed by arranging and scheduling your posts. Some great feed planner options include: Tezza, Preview, Unum, etc.

5. Alternate Between Content Types

In addition to visual consistency, it's important to vary your content types to keep your feed engaging and dynamic. Alternate between different types of posts, such as photos, reels, carousels, etc., quotes, or graphics, while still maintaining a cohesive visual style.
